Goals
The aim of the Morgan's Point Resort Fire Department is to provide members with the foundations of education, physical ability to perform tasks and foster unmatched crew integrity. We shall employ best practices wrought of proven fire ground strategies, tactics and evidence-based emergency medicine. Our overarching goal is ensure the community of Morgan's Point Resort a safe, qualified and compassionate team adept at prevention, community outreach and emergency response.
Taran Vaszocz-Williams was sworn in as Fire Chief on August 29, 2018. Chief Vaszocz-Williams was hired as our Chief of Training in late 2017. He began his fire service career as a Volunteer Firefighter with Dallas County Fire & Rescue and is a graduate of the DeSoto Fire Academy. He attended Paramedic School at UT Southwestern where he went on to serve as a Faculty Adjunct, teaching for a number of DFW area fire departments. He was a Rescue Paramedic with Austin-Travis County EMS' Special Operations Division and a field medic with several other Emergency Medical Services (EMS) services. Chief Vaszocz-Williams was the first EMS Coordinator for the Town of Highland Park, Department of Public Safety, prior to his career as a Firefighter/Paramedic with the Austin Fire Department where he served from 2006 to 2015.
An avid explorer, he has visited and trained with fire and EMS agencies from Peru to Australia and an advocate of diverse, lifelong training.
